Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau
Analysis by PMOI/MEK
Canada, June 13, 2018 - On Tuesday afternoon Canada’s Liberal government called for a vote on a bill presented by the Conservative Party demanding Ottawa adopt a firm policy vis-à-vis the Iranian regime.

The entire Liberal cabinet voted in favor of the bill presented by Conservative MP Garnett Genuis.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had put measures into motion to resume diplomatic relations with Tehran. This parliament plan, however, calls on the government to set this policy aside and immediately halt all negotiations or talks with the Iranian regime in this regard.

What was once considered the appeasement policy is now evolving into a strong doctrine against Tehran and placing the mullahs under scrutiny.

Another article of this bill calls for Ottawa to blacklist the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC). This would be a major political and economic blow to the Iranian regime, considering the fact that the IRGC controls large sectors of Iran’s economy.Trudeau took even one step further in this interesting turn of events by actually warning Canadian companies to no longer have any trade relations with the Iranian regime. Bombardier is one such firm, involved in talks aimed at selling jet passenger planes to the Iranian regime.

Tuesday’s vote, approved by the Prime Minister and his cabinet, means this bill is now considered embedded with Canadian policy. How and when this policy will be implemented remains to be seen.

The IRGC Quds Force is already considered a terrorist entity in Canada.

Canadian Conservative Senator Linda Forum has told the media she is happy the country’s Liberal government has come to understand its mistake and now considering the IRGC as a terrorist entity. This body deserves to be isolated and condemned by the Canadian government.

It remains unclear what element lead Trudeau to adopt such a position regarding Iran. This may be related to recent remarks by Iranian regime Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei calling for Israel to be wiped off the map.

This may have also come under pressure exerted by U.S. President Donald Trump in the G7 Summit or Canada’s Iranian dissident community who continue their efforts against Tehran’s mullahs.

Time will tell what caused this major U-turn in Canada. Obvious is the fact that Tehran is losing significantly in recent developments.
