RENEWED CALLS FOR ENQUIRY INTO 1988 MASSACRE IN IRAN Created: 08 February 2018 Iran NCRI Human rights United Nation The Vice-President of the Advisory Committee to the United Nations Human Rights Council has said that a commission of enquiry into the 1988 massacre in Iran needs to be set up. Jean Ziegler said that a special tribunal needs to be established so that Iran’s impunity with regards to this crime against humanity is put to an end. His comments came during a civil society hearing in Geneva on 1st February in Geneva. Witnesses and experts spoke at the hearing and presented testimonies, statements and advice. They said that it is up to the United Nations to intervene and take action so that Iran’s impunity does not continue any longer.
