مقرّرة الأمم المتحدة الخاصة المعنية بحقوق الإنسان في إيران
قالت عاصمة جهانغير المقررة الخاصة المعنية بحقوق الإنسان في إيران في مقابلة أجرتها معها قناة العربية إن وضع حقوق الإنسان في إيران متدهور. 
وسألتها العربية: في تقريريكِ الأخيرين رسمتِ صورة قاتمة عن اولئك الذين يعارضون الحكومة في إيران وللنساء والصحفيين، هل لكِ أن تصفي لنا وضع حقوق الإنسان في إيران؟ 
أسماء جهانغير: في جميع القطاعات بدءا بسيادة القانون وكذلك مراعاة الاصول القانونية وتمييز ضد الناس على أسس دينية وعرقية وصولا إلى التعذيب وكذلك انتهاكات حقوق الإنسان. هذه هي الصورة في إيران. 
الحكومة تدرك بأن هذه القضايا يجب معالجتها ولكن الحكومة لا يمكن أن تتلكأ لفترة طويلة لأن وعي الناس في جميع أنحاء العالم يزداد ولا يمكن أن تقول للناس إنكم لا تنتهكون حقوق الإنسان فهم يستطيعون أن يقرأوا ويستمعوا ويرون الوضع.
سؤال: لكن الميثاق لا يوفر الحماية للنساء والاقليات الدينية والعرقية فالميثاق غير ملزم. كيف يمكن أن يكون هناك ميثاق غير ملزم لحماية حقوق هذه الاقليات؟ 
أسماء جهانغير: الميثاق هو عبارة عن وعد من جانب الحكومة الايرانية بأنها سوف ترسم سياسات تقوم بتنفيذها. الوعود لا يمكن أن تكون مفيدة الا اذا طُبّقت على أرض الواقع..
