CIA to publish documents revealing Iran's relations with al-Qaeda
CIA Director Mike Pompeo said that the CIA will soon publish documents revealing Iran’s work with al-Qaeda and other terrorist organizations.
Pompeo described the connection between Iran and al-Qaeda as an “open secret”.
The director also discussed Iran’s interference in regional state affairs, sponsoring terrorism and causing unrest. He also spoke about Iran’s ballistic missiles program and their nuclear efforts.
The US administration also issued an ultimatum to Iran to stop its use of armed militias in the region and said it would implement the strategy in cooperation with its partners in the Middle East.French defense minister: Iran engaged in destabilizing ballistic and regional activities
France wants to take action to tackle Iran’s missile program and “destabilizing” behavior, but believes scrapping the 2015 nuclear deal would help hardliners and be a step towards future war, France's defense minister said on Friday.
“We need the JCPOA. Scrapping it would be a gift to Iran’s hardiners, and a first step towards future wars,” Florence Parly said in a speech at a Washington think tank, referring to the nuclear deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.
“But we should also be very serious about the destabilizing ballistic and regional activities. We are working on it.”
Iran: Activities by PMOI supporters in major cities

Iran: A young female physician committed suicide in Sanandaj
Dr. Arezoo Ghobadi hanged herself on a tree in Aveer Park in Sanandaj, capital of Kurdistan Province of Iran, on October 19, 2017.
There is no information about the reason for her suicide.
The alarming rate of suicide amongst women in Iran indicates their defenselessness vis a vis the misogyny institutionalized in the country’s laws and policies.
Iran: Elderliness has also become feminine
Iranian officials warn elderliness has become feminine.
Farahnaz Mohammadi, member of the Center for Elderliness Research, said, “The number of elderly women in Iran is more than the number of men. A large number of elderly people in Iran are illiterate and as a consequence, they have had a low chance of getting employed in young age and have little property.”
In light of women’s economic participation of under 12% in Iran, the feminine face of poverty, and the general poverty in Iran, it is conceivable how horrible the situation of elderly women in the country is. (The state-run ISNA news agency – October 18, 2017)
